Baltimore kicks off its mid-July weekend with the return of the Fell's Point Farmers Market on Saturday morning and an evening concert series at the Inner Harbor on Sunday.
July temperatures averaging 85 degrees have pushed more residents outdoors, boosting attendance at neighborhood gatherings that run through the end of the month before school schedules resume.
Markets and street activities
The Fell's Point Farmers Market operates from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday along South Broadway, where vendors from 25 farms set up stalls selling produce and baked goods. Organizers from the Fell's Point Preservation Society also added a pop-up station for the city's free bike-share program at the same location. A short walk north brings visitors to the Walters Art Museum on Mount Vernon Place, which offers extended hours until 8 p.m. on Saturday with free admission after 5 p.m. for the monthly First Saturday program.
City records show the Fell's Point market drew 4,200 visitors on its opening June weekend, a 15 percent increase from the same period last year.
Evening performances
On Sunday the Inner Harbor hosts the Harbor Nights concert series at 6:30 p.m. on the west shore promenade near Light Street, featuring the local group Charm City Soul. The event is free and runs until 9 p.m., with food trucks stationed along the adjacent promenade. Attendees can also catch the 7 p.m. fireworks display launched from a barge in the harbor basin, a monthly feature scheduled through August.
Those planning to attend should arrive early for parking at the Harborplace garages, which fill by 5 p.m. on concert nights, or use the Charm City Circulator bus that stops every 15 minutes along Pratt Street. The weekend lineup ends Sunday night, with the next major outdoor event set for July 18 at Canton Waterfront Park.
